On one hand, this decentralized public engagement has democratized judicial oversight helping expose police misconduct or institutional cover-ups, crowdsourcing legal defense funds for underrepresented defendants, utilizing Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) to uncover overlooked evidence, and bringing urgent national attention to systemic issues (such as maternal mental health gaps in the Lindsay Clancy case or systemic healthcare grievances following the Luigi Mangione shooting).

On the other hand, this ecosystem fuels "trial-by-social-media" glorifying violent suspects through viral romanticized edits (such as Wade Wilson), generating deepfake evidence, harassing witnesses through doxxing, and spreading unverified conspiracy theories that directly contaminate potential jury pools, distort due process, and compromise the integrity of formal court proceedings.

Because streamer lifestyles are funded directly by the audience (via Twitch subscriptions and direct donations) rather than just traditional studios, the audience feels a profound sense of ownership over the creator. This leads to a toxic "grievance culture" where fans form digital mobs to dictate who the streamer can date, what games they play, or which other creators they associate with, threatening to financially ruin the streamer if they disobey.

Public archives, universities, and museums preserve materials that promote or glorify systemic oppression, such as Nazi antisemitic posters, paintings portraying enslaved people as property, Jim Crow segregation pamphlets, and colonial monuments celebrating exploitative rulers.
